Waka loves Animals?

Waka Flocka Waka Flocka Waka Flocka. The Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame, has recently exploded on the hip-hop scene, despite the fact that his lyrical ability is, well...bad:

"Hey you've got me in a trance
Please take off yo' pants"

"Waka Flocka Flame one hood ***, *****
Ridin real slow, bendin corners my *****"

To show his passion for animal rights, Waka has been inspired to be involved in the new PETA campaign launching February 22 titled "Ink Not Mink."

When commenting on his involvement in the new PETA campaign, Waka stated:

"Animals should be treated the same as you would a kid. Would you
want someone just to walk up and skin your kid? Hell no!"

To me it seems that Waka is trying to prolong his 15 minutes of fame with this publicity stunt.  Waka's ridiculous comment evidences that he really doesn't care about the cause and I think it is wrong of PETA to involve him in the campaign.  With this move Waka just seems to be pervading his image as a laughingstock of the music industry.

  2. I'm glad that you said "Laughingstock of the music industry," because as I read your post I was laughing out loud. I guess you can look at as him keeping that fame with some good action instead of him falling off the deep end.

  3. But usually, being involved with PETA is something a business manager would try to get an artist to avoid, since PETA is not very popular with the masses. Maybe something else is going on here? Maybe it is to prolong the fame? Isn't that the question we ask of all artists--is this a gimmick? Do we ask that of ourselves?

  4. Maybe it is to prolong fame or maybe it is not.I think there is a fine line in exploiting a issue and taking advantage of it or actually giving back to the welfare of the "cause." I guess it then turns to how public does this become. In return, what is the effect on PETA and not Waka.

  5. If this were another artist who had previously shown an interest in animal rights, or any other political movement for that matter, I could take "Waka" seriously. But seeing as how he is no real musician and lyrics like "Gucci bag Loui bag Fendi bag YES!" don't exactly scream animal rights activist, it seams pretty clear he was doing this for the publicity.

"Would you want someone just to walk up and skin your kid?"...Really?
